Shelley James, CPM®

Shelley James, President

Shelley is President and founder of High 5 Residential, LLC where she is actively leveraging her 25+years commercial real estate experience to assist clients to increase the value of their real estate investments. Prior to launching High 5, Shelley served as Senior Director of Real Estate for Greystar where she was responsible for leadership of portfolio operations in Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky.

She is an accomplished property management executive who holds extensive experience in both the owner and fee-managed aspects of the business. Her passion is encouraging and training teams to excellence and responsibilities include inspiring innovation, monitoring property performance, and developing specific strategies to ensure owner goals and objectives are achieved.

Professional Honors & Activities

A member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM®) and a Certified Property Manager CPM®, Shelley has also earned her CAPS® and CAM® designations through the National Apartment Association. She is currently serving as 1st Vice President of IREM Nashville and is a Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for both the Greater Nashville and Tennessee Apartment Associations. Shelley attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is a licensed real estate broker. Shelley and her husband Steve reside in the Nashville area and have three grown children and an amazing grandson.

Steve James, LUTCF

Steve James, Vice President

As Vice President of High 5 Residential, Steve is responsible for overseeing insurance and risk management for the company and works to limit exposure to our clients, ultimately increasing the value of their real estate investments. His experience working with real estate investments, boards of directors, asset managers and community associations including multi-family, apartments, condominiums, townhomes and single-family HOAs affords him a unique insight to advise clients on unexpected and unavoidable property and liability exposures, controlling losses, mitigating risks, and cutting insurance costs. As an Independent Insurance Agent of 22+ years, Steve has experience in a broad spectrum of insurance industry sales and risk consulting including large national account exposures, middle market commercial accounts, personal lines, and life insurance sales.

Steve has been an active member of Community Association Institute of Tennessee for 14 years and currently serves as Chair of CAI’s 2019 golf tournament. He is also a member of Insurors of Tennessee and Professional Insurance Agents of Tennessee and holds property, casualty, life, and health insurance licenses in Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and his home state of Alabama. Steve studied at The American College of Financial Services, where he earned the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF®) designation. He also attended International Bible College, earning certification in Christian Theology.

Steve and his wife Shelley reside in the Nashville area, have three children and one grandson, and are active members of Brentwood Baptist Church. Steve enjoys competitive golf and the great outdoors. He passionately supports the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home and enjoys fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville.

Amy Stephens

Amy Stephens, Executive Assistant

Amy has worked in residential property management for 20+ years, serving at both the property level as a Leasing Consultant and later as an Assistant Manager, and the corporate level in Administrative Assistant and Management Coordinator roles, before joining the High 5 team in 2018. Her previous experience includes working for three of the top 50 largest property management firms as ranked by the National Multifamily Housing Council, as well as a Nashville area company that manages homeowner and condominium associations.

In her role at High 5 Amy handles various human resources, payroll, accounting, vendor compliance, marketing, social media, and meeting and event planning functions; prepares market surveys; coordinates and participates in due diligences; and administers the learning management system, reputation management, High 5 website, and other online platforms. She is also a member of the Greater Nashville Apartment Association’s Statistics Committee.

Amy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Alabama and Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. She is active in her church and as a community volunteer.
